Abstract

The English language is now spoken in various countries as a foreign language. It has been studied in school in almost all countries in this world. Therefore, this research was made to determine the type and identify how the phonological process in the vlog title Korean Convenience Store on Big Marvel YouTube Channel. Therefore, this research was made to fulfill people's curiosity with the research questions (1) What phonological processes occurred in the form of pronunciation by Hwang Myunghun as native Korean on Big Marvel YouTube Channel? (2) What are the different meanings of pronunciation of native Korean with standard English when speaking the same sound in pronunciation by Hwang Myunghun as native Korean on Big Marvel YouTube Channel? The data were analyzed using the theory of phonological process by Wolfram theory. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with content analysis techniques. Based on the results of the analysis, the number of phonological process was found: The 105 data have been found for each type of substitution, assimilation, dissimilation, deletion, and epenthesis: (a) a substitution contains 38 data, (b) an assimilation contains 1 data, (c) a dissimilation contains 55 data, (d) a deletion contains 6 data, and (e) an epenthesis contains 5 data. Dissimilation as the highest data because when doing phonological process there are so many sounds that similar with standard English sound and Korean sound. On average, source words from the data researched are derived from the how the speaker pronunciation the words. The process of classification the phonological process is then analyzed by the writer. After all of the data has been analyzed, it is possible to conclude that the theory of phonological process is very useful for learning how sound changed.
