Abstract
Writing is an attempt to train students to improve their writing better. Thus, writing is continuous exercise of keeping maintain healthy sense. It can be concluded that the writing is a medium to bring the potential that already exists within their expression in writing the symbols that are easily understood by readers to train us to think better. Writing is a form of thinking, but rather thinks for certain reading and for a certain time. One of the most important task of the writer is to master the principles of writing and thinking, which will be able to help students achieve their aims. The most important among the writing and leraning is intended that the invention, arrangement, and style. There are so many teaching techniques which are available to be applied and teacher should choose the good one for sure. The researcher focuses on one of the alternative teaching technique by using Lyrical Pop Music media. It is kind of the way student to influence their writing mastery and have more inspirations in writing narrative essay. So that they can improve their writing skill experience and learn to make a good essay. The researcher used a quantitative method and divided the classroom into two classes;1) experimental class, students are taught by using Lyrical Pop Music media and 2) control class, students are taught only by lecturing and discussion method. The main of this research was to find the influence of Lyrical Pop Music media of the student’s writing mastery. The study was conducted in several steps by using the experimental research as the design of study. The population was taken from the first grade of SMAN 24 Bandung. The total sample amounted 60 students (30 students from each class) were drawn from Group 1 (X Social 2) as the experimental class and Group 2 (X Social 1) as the control class. The statistic in this research use Chi square count and Chi Square table ,and used 5 % for significance. The hypothesis result of this research showed t count -0.9< t table = 2.57 for Pre-Test, and t count 22.7> t table = 2.57 for Post-Test. So, the hypothesis is Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. It shows that students who were taught by using lyrical pop music media have better score and was increasing effectiveness 40% than students who were taught by the usual technique was increasing effectiveness 13 %, In conclusion, there is significant difference between student’s writing mastery between experimental class and control class. Therefore, the researcher can declare that teaching English, especially in writing material by using lyrical pop music media is an effective way to improve the student’s writing mastery.
