Abstract

ENGLISH : This study aims to explain how Sayyid Qutb and Hamka interpret the verses that talk about the characteristics of the preacher by using the method of comparative interpretation (comparison). This research departs from the idea that in preaching, the personality of a preacher greatly determines the success of preaching. In essence, da'wah is not just theory but also must provide examples and benefits for those who are invited to preach. Therefore a preacher must have several characteristics which determine the success or failure of a da'wah activity. The research method used is literature which is qualitative in nature and uses a descriptive analysis method to analyze verses related to the characteristics of the preacher. It then describes the similarities and differences between the interpretations of Sayyid Qutb and Hamka regarding the characteristics of the preachers. The results of this study are first, Sayyid Qutb believes there are seventeen characteristics that a preacher must possess. Meanwhile, according to Hamka there are 21 characteristics. Of the two there are six characteristics that are considered the same, including brave, wise, sincere, gentle and compassionate, forgiving and patient. While the difference of opinion between the two is due to several factors, including their background in involvement in Islamic organizations, scientific background and life experiences. INDONESIA : Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan bagaimana penafsiran Sayyid Quthb dan Hamka mengenai ayat-ayat yang berbicara seputar karakteristik dai dengan menggunakan metode tafsir komparasi (perbandingan). Penelitian ini berangkat dari pemikiran bahwa dalam berdakwah, kepribadian seorang dai sangat menentukan keberhasilan dakwah. Pada hakikatnya, dakwah bukanlah sekedar teori tetapi juga harus memberikan teladan serta manfaat bagi orang yang diajak berdakwah. Maka dari itu seorang dai harus mempunyai beberapa karakteristik yang mana hal tersebut menentukan berhasil tidaknya suatu kegiatan dakwah. Metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah adalah kepustakaan yang bersifat kualitatif serta menggunakan metode analisis deskripsi (descriptive analisys) untuk menganalisa ayat-ayat yang berkaitan dengan karakteristik dai. Kemudian memaparkan persamaan dan perbedaan antara penafsiran Sayyid Quthb dan Hamka mengenai karakteristik dai. Adapun hasil dari penelitian ini adalah pertama, Sayyid Quthb berpendapat ada tujuh belas karakteristik yang harus dimiliki seorang dai. Sedangkan menurut Hamka ada 21 karakteristik. Dari keduanya ada enam karakteristik yang dianggap sama, di antaranya berani, bijaksana, ikhlas, lemah lembut dan kasih sayang, pemaaf dan sabar. Sedangkan perbedaan pendapat diantara keduanya disebabkan beberapa faktor, diantaranya latar belakang keterlibatan mereka dalam organisasi Islam, latar belakang keilmuan serta pengalaman hidup.
