Abstract
This study aims to investigate the correlation between senior high school student's vocabulary mastery and their alignment with the proficiency levels defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The study used a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The researcher used a questionnaire and a vocabulary test based on CEFR to collect data. The questionnaire was used to gather data on students' habits in watching English YouTube videos. In contrast, the vocabulary test was used to gather data about students' CEFR level of vocabulary mastery. This study's population consisted of 11th-grade Senior High School students. This study's sample size was 32 students, and purposive sampling was used. Using SPSS 25 version, the researcher analyzed the data using Pearson's correlation product-moment. According to the results, students' average vocabulary scores based on CEFR are B1 (Intermediate) and A2 (Pre-Intermediate), and their average habits score is 45 out of 60. The data analysis revealed a higher-than-0.05 correlation coefficient for both variables, with a score of 0.435 and a Sig. value of 0.013. The t-test was applied based on the hypothesis test, with tcount = 2.938, t-table = 2.042, degree of freedom df = 30, and significant value 0.05. The alternative hypothesis is approved, while the null hypothesis is disallowed because the t-count is more than the t- table. As a result, it can be said that there is a correlation between students' habits in watching English YouTube and the CEFR level of their vocabulary mastery. This study found a correlation between students' habit of watching English videos on YouTube and their vocabulary mastery level based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). This study utilized a comprehensive approach to assess students' vocabulary acquisition levels and their conformity to CEFR levels. The findings have highlighted a noteworthy positive correlation between the two variables, indicating that as students' vocabulary mastery increases, their alignment with CEFR levels also shows an increasing trend.
