Abstract

ENGLISH : This research is motivated by the phenomenon of students at UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung who are often found using e-cigarettes and claim that e-cigarettes tend to be safer than traditional cigarettes. Previous research shows that one of the reasons for using e-cigarettes is peer influence. The aim of this research is to find out whether there is an influence of perceived benefits on conformity. This research uses a quantitative research design using the Mann-Whitney test. Respondents in this research were active students at UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung with a sample size of 200 respondents. The results of this research prove that perceived benefit has an effect on conformity of 0.000 (significant < 0.05). INDONESIA : Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh fenomena mahasiswa UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung yang banyak ditemui menggunakan rokok elektrik dan mengklaim bahwa rokok elektrik cenderung lebih aman dibandingkan dengan rokok tradisional. Pada penelitian sebelumnya menunjukkan bahwa alasan menggunakan rokok elektrik salah satu faktornya adalah karena pengaruh teman sebaya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat pengaruh perceived benefit terhadap konformitas. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan uji mann-whitney. Responden dalam penelitian ini merupakan mahasiswa aktif UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 200 responden. Hasil dari penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa perceived benefit berpengaruh terhadap konformitas 0,000 (signifikan < 0,05).
