Abstract
The process of burning coal will produce waste called fly ash and bottom ash or commonly called FABA. Therefore, in this study, a building material product was made, namely concrete bricks that use fly ash as a partial replacement for cement and bottom ash as a substitute for sand. Concrete bricks were made using semi dry pressing method by varying the use of fly ash in the mixture, namely 30%, 35%, 40% and 45%. Several concrete brick characterizations were conducted, including XRD, resistance to sodium sulfate, porosity, water absorption, wear resistance, and compressive strength. The characterization results show that the optimum variation of concrete bricks is F1 with a percentage of 30% fly ash, which has a compressive strength value of 34.8 MPa, a wear resistance value of 0.033 (mm/min), water absorption of 4.4% and porosity of 1.6%. The highest quality of concrete bricks obtained based on SNI 03-0691-1996 is quality B for compressive strength and water absorption, and quality A for wear resistance.
