Abstract
This research describes a tragic love story explained through comparative literature in novels and song lyrics. This research analyzes tragic love stories through the point of view of characters and narrative from the novel “Helen dan Sukanta” by Pidi Baiq, the novel "Me Before You" by Jojo Moyes, and the song lyrics "You're Gonna Live Forever in Me" by John Mayer. The method in this research uses a comparative literary method which compares the differences and similarities of the three research objects. This research uses the Love is a Story theory approach from Robert Sternberg as an analytical tool to analyze. Then the data sources taken for research are quoted from the novel “Helen dan Sukanta”, the novel "Me Before You" and the lyrics of the song "You're Gonna Live Forever in Me" through the point of view of the characters and narrative of the tragic love story in the novel and song lyrics. Based on research findings and discussions, the researcher concludes that there is a tragic love story that is explained through the perspective point of view of the characters and narrative of the story in the novel “Helen dan Sukanta”, the novel "Me Before You", and the song lyrics "You're Gonna Live Forever in Me". In this research, the researcher found the topic of a tragic love story with a comparative literary formulation through the storyline in the novel and the song lyrics which are told with a love story that is not approved by circumstances, heavy feelings of loss, and tragic love stories that are present in these three research objects.
