Abstract

Triadic relations is a concept that explains how signs function in the communication process by involving interrelated components to understand the meaning and interpretation in communication. This study aims to determine the representation of the meaning of the text name of equipment items, then the representation of the meaning of the image of equipment items and the relationship between the text and image of equipment items in the game Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. The data obtained as the object of research are texts and images of equipment items from the game Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. The analysis is conducted using Charles Sanders Peirce's theory to explain how signs function and how meaning is produced and understood from the text and images of item equipment of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. The research method used in this study is a qualitative description method. Researcher find and then describe the data found based on the interpretation of signs in the data. The results of the data analysis can be concluded as follows: First, that the names of many items take from references to weapons and tools used from heroes, fantasy, and mythological gods that represent the power of the item. Second, the image design of the items illustrates the meaning of the item's name as well as the design that gives the impression that the item has mysterious powers. Third, the relationship between the text name and the image of the equipment items to describe the developer is reason given the name and image of the item which each item has different strengths. It's hoped that there will be no players mistake while using the item in the game.
