Abstract

This study aims to determine the transformation of character and optimistic value in the two novels from two different countries, namely the novel The Fault In Our Stars by John Green and the novel Surat Kecil Untuk Tuhan (Special Edition) by Agnes Davonar. This research uses the theory of comparative literature studies. This research uses a qualitative descriptive research method. The results of this study show that the optimism attitude of the main character in the novel The Fault In Our Stars and the novel Surat Kecil Untuk Tuhan (Special Edition) consists of the following: 1) Human relationship with himself, 2) Human relationship with other humans, 3) Human relationship with God.
