Abstract

Educational games are the right choice of learning media to improve students quality and interest in the learning process. This research focuses on the development of an educational game called "Project 1920," centered around the history of Gedung Sate, an iconic landmark of Bandung City. The primary goal of this study is to enhance the understanding and appreciation of history through interactive learning media based on a Role Playing Game (RPG) format. The game employs the Finite State Machine (FSM) method to manage dynamic transitions between actions within the game and follows the Game Development Life Cycle (GDLC), which consists of six main stages: initiation, pre-production, production, alpha testing, beta testing, and release. Alpha testing demonstrated that the game application runs smoothly, with FSM implementation effectively reducing code complexity, ensuring responsive interactions and seamless transitions between player actions. Beta testing involved 66 high school students in SMA S PMB Bandung, with results that the aplication “Project 1920” increased interest in learning history, improved understanding of Gedung Sate's history, and an enjoyable gameplay experience. The implications of this research suggest that "Project 1920" can serve as an innovative and effective learning tool for supporting history education, particularly among students
