Abstract
This study explores the impact of Wordwall games on eighth-grade students' comprehension of grammar in SMPN 2 Subang. It is a pre-experimental study. The primary purpose of this research is to determine if Wordwall games are significantly effective in improving students’ understanding of grammar. It aims at clarifying three points: (1) the student's grammar competence before using Wordwall website games, (2) the student's grammar competence after using Wordwall website games, and (3) the significant difference before and after using Wordwall games on students’ comprehension skills. The research used a pre-experimental design and a quantitative method with just one group for pretest and posttest. Students in the eighth grade for the 2023/2024 academic year made up the research population, which was carried out at SMPN 2 Subang. Thirty students from class 8D were chosen as the sample using a convenience sampling technique. Multiple-choice tests for the pretest and posttest were used to gather the data. According to this research's findings, the students' grammar competency improved significantly by 26.17 points, with the mean score before utilizing the Wordwall games being 44.83 and the posttest score rising to 71.00. The N-gain score is 0.54. The alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected, according to the T-test results, which also revealed a t-count of 14.012 > t-table 2.045. It can be concluded that Wordwall Games at SMPN 2 Subang can improve students' comprehension of grammar. The research suggests that this learning tool can be helpful for teachers and students in teaching and learning English grammar.
