Abstract
Nowadays english language is one of the inportant language in the world Although it is not a mother tongue in Indonesia, English is also important When Indonesians learn English, they have a minor difficulty to learn it Whether they like it or not they learn It step by step and use their English they hear, they observe, and they try to pronounce it Finally they start to speak English This International language is not only used as a mother tongue by certain countries in the world, but Indonesia uses it as foreign language They can start learning English at school or course Many students at kindergarten and students junior high school have started to have English lessons at their school Teaching English to children can be started by introducing vocabulary to them Preparing students to study English is not easy as it may seem because English is not their mother tongue and also because they have a lack of concentration and get bored easily. Teaching a foreign language to students should be in an interesting way and fun situation in order to make students like to what they want to learn There are several ways in teaching English for children to make learning becomes interesting such as by using pictures in this paper, the writer is interested in teaching learning English through pictures to children. The method used in this research is using media pictures, it consist of two groups the experimental group (X) and the control class (Y) The two groups are of the seventh grade students Pre- test is given to the groups of the research After that, special treatment is given to the experimental groups that are the use picture media (in class B) and for group control not use picture media (in class A) The post- test is given to the group (class A and Class B). To carryout this research, the writer uses a Qualitative Descriptive Method The data sources are from research at SMP ASy-Syarifiyah Tarogong Garut in collecting data, the writer observed the student's daily activities and interviews their teacher in this research, the writer gave questionnaires for all students and the results show that the students are very successful in their learning when using pictures And the result from the research that is The students vocabulary in experimental group in teaching vocabulary taught by using pictures has average score 77 21 and the highest score is 95 it means that using pictures media there are the Influence to increase students' ability in English vocabulary. For the control group in teaching vocabulary taught without using pictures media has average score is for post-test has average 69 71 and the highest the score is 90 So, the first one has the higher score than the second one it means that without using pictures media it is less in giving influences to the students ability in English vocabulary
