Abstract

This research aimed to see the effect of Wordwall as a learning media on students' reading skills. A quantitative method with a pre-experimental design was used to collect data for this research. Non-probability and convenience sampling techniques were employed by determining 33 students of class VIII H as the sample for this research. The research results showed that the average pre-test score of students' reading skills before using Wordwall as a learning media was 71.96, with a good category. Meanwhile, the average post-test score of students after using the learning media was 86.21, which was a perfect category. Therefore, it was evident that students' average pre-and post-test scores increased significantly by 14.25 points. In addition, SPSS version 25 was used to test the students' pre-and post-test scores statistically. The results of the Wilcoxon test for the students' pre-and post-test scores were known to be 0.000, which was less than 0.05. The results, which rejected the null hypothesis (H0) and accepted the alternative hypothesis (Ha), confirmed that Wordwall effectively improved the reading skills of recount texts of class VIII H students at SMPN 8 Bandung.
