Abstract

This study explores the phenomenon of code-mixing in the beauty category on Titan Tyra's YouTube channel, focusing on language mixing and its development. The subjects of this study were English Literature students at UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung as a group of English as a second language learners. This study aims to explain the language development that occurs through the phenomenon of code-mixing that is often used. To analyze this phenomenon, this study identifies the types of code-mixing and analyzes the stages of language development. The method used is the Exploratory Sequential Mixed Method, which combines qualitative and quantitative approaches to gain a deeper understanding of language use patterns. The results of this study indicate three types of code-mixing, intra-sentential code-mixing, intra lexical code-mixing, and a combination of intra sentential code-mixing and intra lexical code-mixing. In the analysis of language development, a score of 4 was obtained for graphitization, 4 for standardization, and 5 for modernization. Code-mixing affects students' communication and writing in both academic and non-academic environments. The use of code mixing not only reflects the dynamic language changes in bilingual communities, but also shows how cultural and technological influences contribute to language development in digital contexts. This study contributes to the understanding of code mixing in written and spoken communication, especially in the realm of beauty.
