Abstract

The learning process will run well if accompanied by good learning media and in accordance with the development of the times, even though the material taught is a foreign language, namely Arabic. Based on observations and interviews on November 11, 2024 conducted at MAN 1 Brebes, information was obtained that in the Arabic language learning process, listening and reading skills were not implemented by maximizing the media, so that students' abilities in these skills were low and some were below the KKM 72. The objectives of this study are as follows: 1) To determine the listening and speaking skills of students of MAN 1 Brebes before using short movie you tube media in Arabic language subjects, 2) To determine the use of short movie you tube in Arabic language subjects at MAN 1 Brebes to improve students' listening and speaking skills, 3) To determine the listening and speaking skills of students of MAN 1 Brebes after using short movie you tube in Arabic language subjects and 4) To determine the effectiveness of using short movie you tube in Arabic language subjects at MAN 1 Brebes to improve students' listening and speaking skills. The framework of thought in the study is with several theoretical concepts that explain that there is an influence of the use of learning media technology in improving students' listening and reading skills in Arabic. The use of technology as a learning medium is in line with the concept of Vygotsky's social constructivism learning theory that learning must combine social interaction, cultural devices, and learning activities that determine individual development and learning. The results of this study are that the use of audio visual media in the experimental class with an average value reaching (89) from the previous (59.6666667) or experiencing an increase (29.3333333) in listening skills and (87.1111111) from the previous (62.8888889) or experiencing an increase (24.2222222) in reading skills. While the use of conventional media in the control class with an average value of only (71.8918919) from the previous (60.1351) or experiencing an increase (11.7567919) in listening skills and (74.9459459) from the previous (59.8648649) or experiencing an increase only (15.081081) in reading skills. In addition, based on observations made during the treatment, it was also found that the use of audio-visual media in Arabic language subjects at MAN 1 Brebes to improve students' listening and reading skills resulted in several positive achievements, namely: a) Learning is more interesting, b) Learning materials are easier to understand, c) Student motivation is more stimulated, d) Making concrete material that is still considered abstract and e) Time efficient in understanding a material. All of these things are directly proportional to the learning outcomes of those who use short movie you tube.
