Abstract

ENGLISH : The existence of e-commerce and the addition of mall construction makes it easier for consumers to consume a product or goods. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, impulsive buying behavior has increased. As a State Islamic University, it is hoped that students can apply the values of religious teachings in all aspects of life. One of them in terms of consumption of a product. Indonesia is one of the countries in Southeast Asia which is defined as a collectivist country with a tendency to have low self-construal interdependent and impulsive buying. Even though the students of FEBI UIN Bandung have shown self-construal interdependence, the phenomenon of impulsive buying in this faculty still occurs. This study is a comparative study that aims to determine the differences in impulsive buying in students based on differences in the type of self-construal and gender. The sample used was 304 students based on Isaac Micheal's table. Data were collected using the Impulsive Buying Tendency (IBT) measuring instrument from Verplanken & Herabdi (2003) and several items from Weaver et al (2011) and the Self Construal Scale from Singelis (1994). The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. The results showed that there were no differences in impulsive buying based on the type of self-construal and there were differences in impulsive buying based on gender.
