Abstract
In this study, the researcher analyzed a film originating from the United Kingdom entitled 28 Days Later by Danny Boyle which was produced in 2002. This study aims to: (1) Understand the results of the analysis on intrinsic elements which include plot, characterizations, settings and themes in the film 28 Days Later (2) Understand how the psychological condition of the characters and environmental effects can affect the psychological condition of the characters in the film 28 Days Later using psychoanalytic studies. To assist in analyzing this research, Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic theory is used in a qualitative method because of its suitability with the object of the film script. This method will produce a narrative in the form of a description not in the form of numbers. The storyline in this film is a chronological plot, it has four protagonist characters namely Jim, Selena, Frank and Hannah and one antagonist character, namely the soldier. The setting in this film takes place in the United Kingdom. The time setting occurs during the day and night. The theme of this film is zombies. The psychological conditions of Jim, Selena and Frank are categorized as healthy souls according to psychoanalytic theory. While Hannah and soldiers are categorized as unhealthy souls. Hannah's superego portion is bigger than the others while the army's id portion is bigger than the others. The environmental conditions that occur in the film have changed Jim, Selena and Frank who were not used to killing people to dare to kill people. The environment also made soldiers who previously protected the citizens turned into the opposite, namely attacking and using women for their own interests.
