Abstract

Archetypes are character patterns that are always present in the hero's journey. Meanwhile, heroine journey is a general term for a pattern of heroism or the journey in carrying out his hero's mission, through this archetype and journey it can enhance storytelling comprehension, emphasizing character development, thematic elements, and the transformative nature of the journey. Therefore, the researcher feels interested and needs to do the research about that topic with the aims to analyze the kinds of archetypes and the heroine journey in Enola Holmes movie (2020). This research used descriptive qualitative method and the primary theory to analyze the data was from Vogler (2007). From the data analysis, the findings showed that there were 6 archetypal data points (Hero, mentor, threshold guardian, Herald, ally, trickster) and 16 instances from the 10 stages of the heroine's journey. Meanwhile, the heroine's journey stages included the ordinary world, call to adventure, refusal, mentor meeting, first threshold crossing, tests, allies/enemies, inmost cave approach, ordeal, Reward, and elixir return. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the presence of 6 characters in Enola's heroine journey showed the importance of supporting characters and the journey to becoming a hero was not just about the courage of the heroine itself, but there was a journey, step by step, involving meetings with other characters that shaped Enola's personality as a heroine, making her braver in taking action to help others.
