Abstract

This research was intended to determine students' reading comprehension after being taught by using digital animation video. This research proposed; 1) To find out students’ reading comprehension before using Digital Animation Videos. 2) To find out students’ reading comprehension after using Digital Animation Videos. 3) To find out significant is the difference between students’ reading comprehension before and after using Digital Animation Videos. This research applied quantitative method, specifically pre-experimental research. The research was conducted at SMPN 7 Jampangkulon Satu Atap Sukabumi. The population of this research was 8th grade. However, the sample of this research is 30 students from VIII A. The data was collected by using pre-test and post-test. The analysis of data was processed in statistical analysis SPSS 25.0. The result showed that the statistical analysis of pre-test and post-test scores significantly increased after using digital animation videos. The average of students on the pre-test was 47.00, while the average on the post-test was 84.53. However, statistical calculations from post-test scores show that using digital animation videos effectively improves students reading comprehension. This is evidenced by the result of the N-Gain analysis, where the pre-experimental mean is 0.73 with a high interpretation (mean), while the gain score interpretation mean is 0.73 with a high interpretation. In conclusion, students reading comprehension improves both in pre- experimental class and after being given treatment using digital animation videos. Furthermore, this research is recommended for teachers who need to improve students reading comprehension skills.
