Abstract

Vocabulary is a foundation in the language. It is because vocabulary is the principal thing in learning all languages. By mastering a lot of vocabulary, we can express our thoughts and ideas, understand, and share information, and can understand what other people are saying. With the development of technology that develops many foreign languages learning applications, learning methods for learning vocabulary can be done in a more fun, easy, and practical technique. The study aims to find (1) how the teaching of English vocabulary by using the Drops application is carried out in EFL students. (2) the student's perception of using the Drops application in learning vocabulary. This research uses a qualitative method and case study as a research design. This study was participated by 29 students in seventh grade in MTs Al-Misbah. The participants of the study were chosen by purposive sampling method. The researcher used an observation checklist, questionnaire, and interview to gain the data. The result of the study: (1) all steps of English learning using the Drops application to improve students' vocabulary, starting from the introduction of Drops application, mentioning vocabulary that appears in the Drops application, pronouncing vocabulary, repeating vocabulary, and rewriting vocabulary are proven to make learning easier and students feel more helped in understanding vocabulary as well as helping English teachers provide a fun and not boring learning experience so that students become interested and more enthusiastic in learning English vocabulary and also facilitate teachers in delivering English vocabulary learning to students, (2) most students enjoy using the Drops application for learning English vocabulary. More than 80% of students feel happy using the Drops application when learning English vocabulary. The Drops applications allowed the students to improve their listening skills and pronunciation skills. In conclusion, the Drops application enables to be implemented to increase English vocabulary in the teaching and learning process. In addition, the researcher recommends the teacher use the Drops application in the classroom. It is one of the strategies for the students to enhance their vocabulary mastery.
