Abstract
Social deixis is one of the linguistic phenomenon which occurs in a communication process. everyone in this world has a name that makes it a sign that distinguishes it from other people. The name can be obtained by way of giving birth. but the given name at birth can change. This phenomenon has occurred which is based on social and of course, this problem is included in the study of social deixis. In this research, The Sealed Nectar (2011) book was used. This book tells the story of the life of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ who have many names people this book was chosen because the book is the most popular in the biography category so that can be analyzed easily. Therefore, this research aims to find out: (1) the types of social deixis and (2) the meaning of social deixis found in the book. The method used in this research is the qualitative descriptive method. The theory used to analyze the data are from Levinson as the main theory and also other related theories as supporting one. From the research result, the types of social deixis found are absolute social deixis and relational social deixis. The meaning of social deixis use there are many types, and all of the meanings come from each context when that nickname is called.
