Abstract

Film and literature are two different things with the same goal of creating greatness in human imagination and understanding. Film and literature inspire and enrich each other, and are elements of literature such as plot, setting, characterization, structure and theme. Likewise, character development is known as the process of giving fictional characters the same depth and complexity. Character development can be said to be the transformation of the character from the beginning of the film or fairy tale to the storyline. This research can be related to this topic and aims to analyze the answers towards the two of problems formulations in this thesis, including to describe how the character development of the main character based on the Social Conflict of the main character Shuri in the film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022) by Ryan Cogler, and the impacts of social conflict on character development. The researcher used qualitative theory, as well as the main theory to analyze the data by combining two theories of Character Development from Asch (1946) and Sean Glatch, and two theories of social conflict from Coser (1956) also the effects of social conflict based on Pruitt (2004), from the research questions above 24 data were found in this research. The data are categorized into various types of character development and also types of social conflict which are combined with the effects of social conflict..
