Abstract
The objective of this research was to find out students’ Speaking skills by Using Audio Lingual Method. The research aimed to explore whether the implementation of the audio-lingual method led to an enhancement in students' speaking skills among second-grade students at SMPN 1 Sukakarya Bekasi. This research employed a quantitative method, utilizing statistical models as the methodology for data analysis. The data collection process utilized a pre-experimental design incorporating pre-test and post-test assessments. The analysis of data employs normality, hypothesis testing, and n-gain assessments. The selected participants comprised second-grade students, resulting in a sample size of 35 individuals. The data collection process entailed the implementation of pre-and post-tests to evaluate students' speaking skills. The pre-test and post-test comprised six oral questions concentrating on everyday items and their functions. The pre-test was administered prior to the implementation of the treatment in order to evaluate students' performance. In contrast, the post-test was conducted to assess their performance after applying the treatment. The findings indicated that the average score on the pre-test was 51.09, falling within the "poor" range, whereas the average post-test score was 73.94, categorized as "good." It indicates an improvement of 22.85 points on the students' mean score, and it increases from the "fair" category to the "good" category, referring to the score of n=35with a significance level of 0.05. The hypothesis test result shows that the score of sig (2-tailed) 0.000 < 0.05 indicates that H0 of this research was rejected and Ha was accepted. It signified that students' speaking skills improved after the audiolingual method as the teaching method treated the students. In conclusion, the effectiveness of the audio-lingual method approach in improving students' speaking skills at SMPN 1 Sukakarya was established. Therefore, it is recommended that English educators consider implementing the audio-lingual method as a strategy for teaching speaking skills to students.
