Abstract

INDONESIA: Berita yang tidak ada habisnya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari dan informasinya dibutuhkan masyarakat sampai saat ini ialah berita kriminal. Salah satu media massa yang turut memberitakan berbentuk kriminalitas, ialah Kompas TV Jawa Barat dengan sajian audio visual. Memiliki karakteristik audio visual jadi hal yang perlu diperhatikan oleh seorang Gatekeeper sebagai penjaga gerbangnya media dalam pembuatan berita kejahatan, termasuk pemuatan gambar didalamnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui peran Gatekeeper Kompas TV Jawa Barat dalam melakukan proses Gatekeeping nya (penyaringan) agar sesuai dengan kaidah ketentuan jurnalistik pada saat produksi berita kriminal, mulai dari pengelolaan pra produksi, penyeleksian dan penyuntingan di tahap produksi, dan keputusan publikasi di pasca produksi. Peneliti juga melihat terdapat kurangnya pemfilteran konten pada visual berita kriminal di Kompas TV Jawa Barat. Maka dari itu, peneliti menggunakan beberapa produk berita kriminal di Kompas TV Jawa Barat yang berhasil lolos tayang oleh Gatekeeper sebagai rujukan untuk mengkonfimasi Kompas TV Jawa Barat sebagai objek penelitian. Sebagai pisau analisis yang digunakan peneliti, menggunakan teori model Gatekeeping dari Bruce Westley dan Malcolm MacLean. Berfokus menyoroti peran penting Gatekeeper dalam setiap proses penyampaian informasi sebagai individu yang mengelola aliran informasi, sebelum disampaikan kepada audience. Pendekatan kualitatif, metode deskriptif, pengumpulan data wawancara, observasi, dokumentasi kepada keempat informan redaksi Kompas TV Jawa Barat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pertama, pengelolaan pra produksi berita kriminal adanya planning pada rapat redaksi, dan Gatekeeper melakukan proses Gatekeeping nya dengan melibatkan verifikasi pada pihak kepolisian terkait sumber yang di dapat sebelumnya. Kedua, tahap produksi berita kriminal, melawati proses lapangan dan editing meja redaksi. Peran Reporter dan video jurnalis sebagai komunikator sekaligus Gatekeeper lapangan melakukan wawancara, dan tidak mengambil gambar sensitif secara detail. Peran produser melakukan penyeleksian, penyuntingan naskah dengan teknik 5W+1H dan menghindari diksi mencolok. Peran Editor sebagai Gatekeeper melakukan teknik editing non-linear, memanfaatkan filter blur/sensor, dan teknik cut to cut pada penyuntingan gambar. Ketiga, keputusan publikasi berita kriminal di Pasca Produksi sepenuhnya oleh produser sebagai Gatekeeper utama, melalui proses Quality Control (QC) mengacu pada aturan penyiaran P3SPS, news value, persaingan media, batas waktu, dan pertimbangan aspek kengerian. Meskipun tidak semua gambar yang memiliki sensitifitas itu di blur, namun secara keseluruhan Gatekeeper Kompas TV Jawa Barat sudah menerapkan sesuai P3SPS dengan melakukan Gatekeeping nya berdasarkan kejelasan visual yang diperoleh. ENGLISH: The news that never ends in everyday life and the information is needed by the public until now is crime news. One of the mass media that also reports in the form of crime is Kompas TV West Java with audio-visual presentations. Having audio-visual characteristics is something that needs to be considered by a Gatekeeper as the media gatekeeper in making crime news, including the loading of images in it. This study aims to determine the role of Gatekeeper Kompas TV West Java in carrying out its Gatekeeping process (filtering) to comply with journalistic provisions during crime news production, starting from pre-production management, selection and editing in the production stage, and publication decisions in post-production. The researcher also saw a lack of content filtering in crime news visuals on Kompas TV West Java. Therefore, the researcher used several crime news products on Kompas TV West Java that were successfully broadcast by the Gatekeeper as a reference to confirm Kompas TV West Java as the object of research. As an analytical tool used by researchers, using the Gatekeeping model theory from Bruce Westley and Malcolm MacLean. Focusing on highlighting the important role of Gatekeepers in every process of delivering information as individuals who manage the flow of information, before being delivered to the audience. Qualitative approach descriptive method, data collection interviews, observations, documentation to the four informants of the Kompas TV West Java editorial team. The results of the study show that first, the management of pre-production of crime news involves planning at the editorial meeting, and the Gatekeeper carries out the Gatekeeping process by involving verification with the police regarding previously obtained sources. Second, the stage of crime news production, goes through the field process and editing at the editorial desk. The role of Reporter and video journalist as a communicator as well as a field Gatekeeper conducts interviews, and does not take sensitive images in detail. The role of the producer is to select, edit the script using the 5W + 1H technique and avoid striking diction. The role of the Editor as Gatekeeper carries out non-linear editing techniques, utilizes blur/sensor filters, and cut to cut techniques in image editing. Third, the decision to publish crime news in Post-Production is entirely by the producer as the main Gatekeeper, through the Quality Control (QC) process referring to the P3SPS broadcasting rules, news value, media competition, time limits, and considerations of horror aspects. Although not all images that have sensitivity are blurred, overall Gatekeeper Kompas TV West Java has implemented it according to P3SPS by carrying out Gatekeeping based on the visual clarity obtained.
