Abstract

INDONESIA: Perkembangan jurnalisme visual di media digital mendorong media massa untuk menyajikan informasi dalam bentuk infografis yang lebih ringkas, menarik, dan mudah dipahami. Dalam konteks ini, infografis tidak hanya menyajikan informasi faktual, tetapi juga memuat berbagai elemen visual dan verbal yang membentuk representasi tertentu terhadap peristiwa demonstrasi. Pesan yang disampaikan dalam infografis berita tidak selalu hadir secara netral, karena setiap elemen visual dan verbal yang digunakan memiliki potensi untuk membangun makna tertentu mengenai demonstrasi, aparat, dan rakyat sipil. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami bagaimana infografis berita demonstrasi Agustus 2025 pada akun Instagram @tempoinfografik merepresentasikan peristiwa demonstrasi melalui sign pada elemen visual dan verbal yang digunakan dalam infografis, object menelaah realitas atau peristiwa yang dirujuk oleh tanda, dan interpretant mengkaji makna yang terbentuk dari hubungan antara tanda dan objek. Penelitian menggunakan paradigma konstruktivis dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan metode analisis semiotika Charles Sanders Peirce. Data primer berupa tiga infografis berita demonstrasi Agustus 2025 yang dipublikasikan oleh Tempo, sedangkan data sekunder diperoleh dari buku, jurnal, skripsi, dan dokumen pendukung lain yang relevan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada dimensi sign, Tempo menyusun tanda visual dan verbal secara berbeda sesuai fokus peristiwa yang ingin ditonjolkan, mulai dari persebaran aksi demonstrasi, bentrokan langsung antara aparat dan massa, hingga insiden spesifik yang melibatkan kendaraan taktis aparat. Pada dimensi object, ketiga infografis merepresentasikan demonstrasi Agustus 2025 secara bertahap, dari peristiwa sosial-politik yang meluas di berbagai wilayah, berkembang menjadi kerusuhan yang menimbulkan korban jiwa, hingga berujung pada insiden konkret yang menempatkan rakyat sipil sebagai korban langsung. Pada dimensi interpretant, makna yang terbentuk menunjukkan perkembangan dari demonstrasi sebagai isu nasional, menjadi tragedi berdarah, hingga menjadi peristiwa yang memperlihatkan rakyat sipil sebagai pihak yang paling terdampak. Secara keseluruhan, penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa infografis berita pada akun Instagram @tempoinfografik tidak hanya menyampaikan fakta visual mengenai demonstrasi Agustus 2025, tetapi juga berfungsi sebagai media representasi yang membentuk cara pandang pembaca terhadap peristiwa tersebut. Melalui konstruksi visual dan verbal yang disusun secara bertahap, Tempo merepresentasikan demonstrasi sebagai peristiwa sosial-politik yang serius, penuh konflik, berdampak fatal, dan menempatkan rakyat sipil sebagai korban langsung dari benturan antara massa dan aparat. ENGLISH: The development of visual journalism in digital media encourages mass media to present information in the form of infographics that are more concise, engaging, and easy to understand. In this context, infographics not only provide factual information but also contain various visual and verbal elements that form a specific representation of demonstration events. The messages conveyed in news infographics are not always neutral, because every visual and verbal element used has the potential to construct a particular meaning concerning demonstrations, authorities, and civilians. This study aims to understand how news infographics of the August 2025 demonstrations on the Instagram account @tempoinfografik represent demonstration events through signs in the visual and verbal elements used in the infographics, the object examines the reality or events referred to by the signs, and the interpretant examines the meanings formed from the relationship between the signs and the object. The study uses a constructivist paradigm with a qualitative approach and Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic analysis method. The primary data consisted of three news infographics of the August 2025 demonstrations published by Tempo, while the secondary data were obtained from books, journals, theses, and other relevant supporting documents. The research results show that on the sign dimension, Tempo arranges visual and verbal signs differently according to the focus of the events they want to highlight, ranging from the distribution of demonstration actions, direct clashes between authorities and the masses, to specific incidents involving tactical vehicles of the authorities. On the object dimension, the three infographics represent the August 2025 demonstration gradually, from broad socio-political events in various regions, developing into riots that resulted in casualties, to culminating in concrete incidents that place civilians as direct victims. On the interpretant dimension, the meaning that emerges shows a development from the demonstration as a national issue, to a bloody tragedy, and finally to an event that shows civilians as the most affected party. Overall, this study concludes that news infographics on the Instagram account @tempoinfografik not only convey visual facts about the August 2025 demonstration, but also function as a medium of representation that shapes readers' perspectives on the event. Through visual and verbal constructions arranged progressively, Tempo represents the demonstration as a serious socio-political event, full of conflict, with fatal impacts, placing civilians as direct victims of clashes between crowds and authorities.
