Abstract

Masculinity is a concept about male personality, the concept of masculinity is often understood as a complex social construction, reflected in the various characters and behavior of male characters in films. In this context, stereotypes become an important part in forming the image and characterization of certain figures. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive method, by analyzing films by considering visual narratives, dialogue and characters' actions that contain masculinity and stereotypes. The results of the analysis show that the film "Sleeping Beauty" not only reproduces, but also reforms stereotypes related to masculinity, which can influence perceptions and social norms related to gender. The aim of this research is to contribute to our understanding of how film as a popular medium influences and reflects social perceptions of masculinity. The implications of this research can provide a deeper view of how representations of masculinity in film media can shape and change our views about gender in contemporary society.
