Abstract

This study aims to identify students’ uncertainty profiles, measure the improvement of scientific literacy through the implementation of the Student Uncertainty as a Pedagogical Resource (SUPeR) approach with the Know, Want to Know, Learned (KWL) strategy, and analyze the relationship between uncertainty and scientific literacy improvement. This research employed a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group design involving 31 students from Grade X MIPA at SMA PGRI Cicalengka. The results show that at the beginning of the lesson, most students had high and moderate levels of uncertainty, which decreased to low and very low levels by the end of the lesson. The Independent Sample t-Test yielded a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.004 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference between the experimental and control classes. Spearman’s correlation test revealed a significant negative relationship between students’ uncertainty and scientific literacy improvement. In conclusion, the SUPeR approach combined with the KWL strategy effectively enhances students’ scientific literacy while reducing their level of uncertainty.
