Abstract
The purpose of this research is to find out the expression and content that appear through visual and linguistic signs on each object, and to get the interpretation that results from the combination of expression and content. This led the researcher to analyse the following three questions: (1) What kind of linguistic and visual racism representation based on Expression concept in short video Key and Peele? (2) What are the contents of linguistic and visual racism in Key and Peele's short video? and (3) How is the relationship between expression and content in Key and Peele's short video? In answering these three questions, the researcher uses semiotic studies based on Roland Barthes' theory in the form of E (expression), R (relation), and C (content) (1957). The method used in this research is a qualitative approach, namely descriptive analysis, research that provides an objective description. In several Key and Peele short films taken as data, there are quite a number of scenes of racism that befall black people. Everything is done by white people to separate black people in any form. Especially black people only have very limited access to public facilities. Films like this should be exposed more widely and be able to become a message for all citizens so that there are no more racist practices that are increasingly prevalent so that harmony can be achieved and no discrimination occurs. Not only does it contain elements of entertainment but also has educational value and lessons about morals and information about history that many people do not know. Key and Peele's video can serve as an example to the public that racism can jeopardise the unity of a country.
