Abstract

Literary work of psychology analysis is thought to be appropriate for directing research that focuses on the problem of alienation of characters in David Schwimmer's film Trust 2010 about victim sexual abuse. This is because a person's alienation symptom is a psychological phenomenon that has an explanation in psychology. The film always records the reality that grows and develops in society and then projects it onto the screen. Therefore, this research uses the sexual abuse theory by Luhulima (2000) and the impacts of sexual abuse by Zastrow (2015) which are connected with the hierarchy of needs theory by Maslow (1943), and the overcomes the character of a sexual abuse victim used by Kelly (2012). This research has three questions: (1) What are the factors causing sexual abuse to the main character in Trust film? (2) What are the psychological impacts of sexual abuse experienced by the main character Annie in Trust Film? (3) How does the main character overcome the psychological impacts of sexual abuse?. This research used qualitative methods to make the explanation of the psychological impact of sexual abuse experienced by the main character. There are 27 total data found in the film to interpret sexual abuse victims. The result of the impacts of sexual abuse into four categories there are Physical impact, behavioral impact, cognitional impact, and social-emotional impact.
