Abstract

Turn-Taking Strategy is needed to make the flow of conversation run smoothly. This research aims to identify types of turn-taking strategies and its management in conversation between Eric Nam and Straykids members in Dive Studios Daebak Show Podcast. This research used descriptive qualitative method to analyze the utterances containing turn-taking strategy based on the theory from Stenstroom (1994) and turn-taking management theory based on Harvey Sacks (1974). In this research, 50 data was found of turn-taking strategies with taking the turn being the most dominant with 26 data. Also, 30 data or turn-taking management with the next self speaker strategy being the most dominant with 16 data. Eric Nam as the host gain the attention by the viewers because he constantly start every segment fully prepared and maximize the possibility to avoid any silent pause on the podcast. As for the least data found in this study, namely giving up strategy with 2 data. The reason for this matter is because the guess choose to give no comment on the issue.
