Abstract

It is necessary for there to be an understanding equality of the gender in the course of feminism in order to do not demean one another. The purpose of this research is to find out about objectification in Lady Chatterley’s Lover by D.H. Lawrence through the lens of feminism and Objectification Theory by Martha C. Nussbaum (1995). Employing a mimetic approach, the study aims to find out Connie as the main character being objectified and Connie’s struggle. The study explores the novel’s narrative, focusing on Connie’s character development and treated as a woman. Central to the analysis is the application of feminism especially objectification. The study categorizes Connie’s being objectified into seven notions, including Instrumentality, Denial of Autonomy, Inertness, Fungibility, Violability, Ownership, Denial of Subjectivity. Furthermore, the writer investigates the resolutions of Connie’s being objectified analyzing Connie’s struggle using three categorizes, including Struggle to Accept Facts of Life, Struggle to Achieve a Dream, and Struggle in The Form of Affection. The study contributes to a deeper understanding of feminism in the Connie’s character being objectified in Lady Chatterley’s Lover, while also providing insights into the broader theme of feminism especially objectification in literature.
